Okuma Hakai - missing part

Featured Replies

Hello.

This past summer I broke my Okuma Hakai (love this reel). I was fighting a golden dorado (8 pound more or less) and after hear a clik the handle just blocked (has to used my hands to aproach the fish by the way)
When I opened the hakai, the roller clutch inner tube was broken.

Could be it integrated in the roller bearing? I asked to the official okuma service from argentina but they never answered.

Yeah, you'll need to order the whole roller/AR bearing. The collar is very likely considered part of it. If you have no luck with Okuma, try Dream Tackle. I am pretty sure they use the same part.

This is what happens, when you have a drag pressure greater than your A/R.  Ideally you wouldn't do this but big drag numbers sell reels.

You are right. The collar/tube is a critical component. This must be made of metal or another hard material, not plastic, because this put pressure to the drive gear.

The roller bearing sleeve should be a separate part - it slides out of the roller bearing with the main shaft, and is keyed to the main shaft on every reel.  The roller bearing is press-fit in the side plate - if not press-fit, the roller bearing at least has to be keyed in the side plate.

Sometimes the sleeve will stay in the roller bearing when you remove the side plate, but you can't install it that way - you have to remove the roller bearing sleeve and match the key on the mainshaft to reinstall the side plate.

But it doesn't show up as a separate part on your schematic.

Any keyed AR sleeve will work in its place as long as it protrudes for the drag stack to press on it.

The problem is find one to fit.
I send a mail to okuma US for this, but in the web the roller bearing replacement its not on sale

What I mean is you can order a sleeve for any other reel, a shimano SLX for example. AR clutches are all the same ID.

If you email me I probably have something in my graveyard if reels.
