Faraday Box

Are any of you using a Faraday box or sleeve for your car key fobs?

After watching a few videos out there, I ordered the box with sleeves yesterday.

I don't use one for my key-fob - but I do use a Faraday wallet for my credit/debit cards.

Like Ken, I have a Faraday wallet. I’ve been reading a little about a Faraday pouch for a cellphone. What is the benefit of having one for your key fobs?

I’ve seen videos of people that walk up to a house with an antenna, grab the transmission of the key fob RFID, and use that to start your car and steal it.

Normally, I park in my garage. But because I’m still unpacking and setting up my new house I have been parking in my driveway.

Oh - I don't have to worry about that - only thing my key-fob does is lock/unlock the doors. Personally I'd just disable the remote-start if I got a new vehicle that had it...pull the fuse from the block that powers the remote-start function.

Thanks Koz, the more you know! Again, like my friend Ken, all our fobs will do is lock/unlock our vehicles.

If your car need the fob in the car to drive it, your car is vulnerable.

My fob unlocks the doors and I can remote start with an app. But that RFID signal also allows me to unlock my doors by touching the handle when I get to teh car.

Nope - my second set of keys is fully functional and does not have a fob on the ring....I just have to manually unlock doors with the key - you know, like the old days.

Personally - I'd find a way to make sure that the physical key needs to be in the ignition to start the vehicle....this 'hand wavium' method of running your vehicle goes a little too far IMHO.

Some days I want my old '84 Cherokee back....I could do ALL the maintenance myself on that baby.
