my new kayak rule(s). Always grab the net. (not on dinks)

I had a good day.  no..a great day.   my lake is draining faster this year.   (army corp of eng).  I had to snake my kayak  out a sidewalk wide strip of water to get to the main body.  all my secrets spots are high/dry.   coming in, I had to paddle and pull up my pedal drive.

I found where the fish went.   and I tried a new bait.  Bass Mafia Dangerous..or something.   8 cast, five fish.  the last fish was huge.  maybe 7.  she looked wiped out next to my kayak, so I just reached down to lip her.  right when I touched her, she rejuvenated and shook hard...snapped my line and my new Dangerous went buhbye.  waH!  crestfallen, but I rallied.   jig and worm kept up the action.

second rule, the Carolina rig is dead to me.  it is so awful to cast.  I felt like an Australian outbacker throwing that rope with two stones at the ends, trying to tie up the legs of a fleeing dingo.    backlashes were frequent with the slow flying dingo-catcher.    I clipped it off.  cursed it..

the net.  the net is a biggie.  what was I thinking?   I was so cocky..I thought it was a done deal.   hard no.   it hurt to lose the hot bait of the moment.   the "thumps" were intoxicating.

Look on the bright side, now you get to order a bunch from Tackle Warehouse! And of course get a bunch of extra stuff for the free shipping too.😁

Carolina rig is an easy finesse fling not a typical cast. Kinda like bowling to baseball, an acquired taste 😆

Yes exactly like that😁. 100% agree with you, the worst rig to cast. However, I catch a lot of big bass using a C-rig. Learn the "C-rig sling" and you will still backlash just not as bad or often. Usually just a couple of loops. The good thing about the C-rig is it probably one of the best techniques to just let sit while you pick out a backlash.

Some things that help me. I put a bobber stop above the sinker, just to limit its movement a bit. If you see a cast start to helicopter, stop it ASAP. Rig it up as a Mojo rig. The sinker is pegged, a bit easier to cast.
