Fishing gloves?

I can relate to this one.  I have permanent damage in my left ear solely due to gunfire from hunting.  I wear a hearing aide in that ear which helps in every day situations.  But there's no reversing the damage once it's occurred.

Ugh. That stinks.

I now wear ear plugs for pretty much anything loud -- lawn mower, trimmer, chain saw, power wash, shop-vac, any power tools, at all concerts, etc.

And eye protection in any situation warranted, even some where it's overkill. Better safe than blind...

My dad, a lifelong fisherman, died of skin cancer last year. Cover up and be safe, people.

I favor gloves for skin protection but also for functionality. I suppose it depends what you do when fishing but I feel I get less wear and tear and fatigue on long days when I wear gloves.

The suede like material of the gloves gives more grip and offers just enough padding to make a difference. I can still tie knots with the open fingers.

When I don't wear gloves, I definitely have my sun shirt covering my hands via the thumb holes. That brings the shirt to about my knuckles. Doesn't impede anything.

And for a sun hat, and I've tested many, the best I've found is the Sunday Afternoons Ultra Adventure Hat. No detail is overlooked here. UPF50+, including the breathable mesh panels  that make this hat so cool to wear. Large brim, neck nape, sun glass holder, wicking sweat band, subtle reflective panels, foldable/packable, etc etc This is a truly exceptional piece of kit. And I don't think it looks half bad, either.

Shelta hat and fish monkey guide gloves. I like the shelta hat because its stiff enough to stay on in wind or speeds up to 20. I like gloves for paddling and also protection, sun and hooks and gills.

First year I decided to wear fishing gloves, mainly for sun protection.

After looking at many brands, I ended up choosing the NRS Castaway Glove. They also have a sale now too.
