Sunday Morning Trip

The kid and I fished this morning. We never quite clicked with the bass, losing about half the bass we hooked. I tossed a popper at four spots and couldn't trigger a single hit. Everything was underwater, mostly with an underspin with a Crush City Mayor in white, but also a T-Rigged lizard, crawfish, and Burner worm. We finished with 35. Here's the kid with a typical smallie:

And here are three bass I caught. A 17-incher:

An 18:

And neeeaaarrrly 19:

The kid did catch a 19 with his dad yesterday. I sure was proud of him:

Nice! Those fish look very post-spawn. They should start to fatten back up to the chunkiness we are used to seeing from you soon.

Yep, they are post-spawn. Fingers crossed they fatten and fatten for the fall. However, their skinniness doesn't keep them from stretching my line. They dunk my MH rod tips in the water.

I am sure they do. Those post-spawn bass are cranky.

The kid, his father, and I are going bogging for big bass on Wednesday morning. I expect we'll hook a big gal, but whether we can land her or not is both the question and the challenge. Here are some bass I caught one morning last fall at the same bog, but I caught these after the weeds had died. The weeds are thick and snaggy again:

Nice fish. As to fishing the area when it is full of weeds.....have you tried chucking a Johnsons' Silver Minnow spoon? They seem to be a "forgotten" bait, but they can be a killer in a weed filled area.

Thanks for the reminder. I own some. I'll try to find them.

I really like the way you quit fishing @Swamp Girl, reminds me of me! Haha. And that fall season a few years ago when you quit, then went 12-15 more times and slayed them 😂

It's the like the way I say I need to watch my weight....then grab another donut!IMG_4057.jpg.c1632623b913b256b75db1f30c7f73e6.jpg
