Cannot find a lot of info outside of specs.  Was this a good unit?  Worth taking the time and money to set up on a kayak?

Free? Power cord and transducer included?  Only way to figure it out it to try it out. Have you get a smaller 12V battery?  Maybe check you tube or google for reviews of the unit?

Yes free, and everything was included.  It belonged to my father who upgraded the one in his boat.

I fish with the hook 9 (I’m a kayak guy). It does what I need it to do. I run it on a 10 Ah nocqua battery and it lasts a good long while. Except for this morning. Got to the lake and didn’t realize my battery was low. Oh well:..

For Kayak use the Hook 7 Triple Shot should be good. The 7X model doesn’t have maps but supports Navionic chip, don’t believe this unit net works?

Generic box but shows Triple Shot you need to look at the unit for model name and serial number or ask your father!

Donn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, buy a Lithium battery suitable for your use and use it.
