recoil guides?

Featured Replies

has anyone used a rod with recoil guides?  I was looking at the cabelas XML ti with these and wondered if there is a real difference.  G-Loomis also has one(out of my price range) the GLX

Thanks

I have a G.Loomis BCR803 with the recoil guides.  They look cheap and odd but they work fine for me.  It seems they might make the rod just a little bit more sensitive but on the down side I don't like using braid with this rod because of the recoil guides.  They kind of make a wining sound with braid.

I just bought a new GLX Dropshot rod with recoil guides and I am skeptical. G Loomis has never dissapointed me, but I will make a report on these guides when I have fished them for a while.

i've never used them but guys say they are noisey.the up side is they don't get bent.i still think i will stick to fuji guides.especially the titanium frame sic guides.

i heard they groove faster then SS guides even,I seen a post about takin a file to them and u can cut um really fast and a guy had a loomis for 6 months and the tip grooved

I've got a few BCR's with the recoil guids, and I love them.  Granted I don't use braid, they aren't noisy with mono/copoly/fluoro, and they won't break or lose a guide insert.  No grooves on any of my rods.  I've got titanium framed SIC's on my Steez rods, and I like them as well.  Guides aren't something I notice really at all...I'm surprised when people say they dislike a certain guide; I honestly can't tell the difference while fishing.

That's pretty surprising; the tips are Fuji SIC's.

I own 2 glx's with the recoil guides a BSR852 and a DSR820- no issues so far and the natural is right the tips are not a reciol-they are fuji sic.
