Hello everyone. I am new to this and needs advice. I have 2 baitcaster reels Daiwa tatula elite 100HS and Lews BB1 Pro  . As I’m bank fishing and can carry only one rod to cover most applications , Dobyns Fury FR734C is the rod  . Which reel you guys recommend me to keep. Thanks.

I'm betting the Daiwa will be more versatile for distance with a wider weight range, especially the light end.

I sold two Lew's centrifugal-brake reels.

(love mag-brake Super Duty G)

Keep them both, That way if one craps out you've got a back up.

That good advice but can keep only one.

Or buy another rod and have two combos.   :)

Keep them both.  Carry the Lews in your pack just in case you grenade the primary reel with an unrecoverable back lash.

my best backlashes are historically sent from shore.  Hook a branch behind me, center punch a log in front of me….

I've had a couple bad backlashes on my last two outings.

The first I was trying to bomb a crankbait out and the lure hit the water behind me right before I gave it the heave. Rats nest. Brand new tatsu.

The other I was trying to bomb cast a swimjig out which is normally pretty easy. I'm not exactly sure what happened but it backlashed which sent my brand new swimjig into the abyss. I must have changed the tension knob and forgot, idk. I pretty much just throw the same swimjig on it.

Nothing worse than a backlash as it pretty much makes that rod useless for the rest of your trip. And then when you get home, you spend a bunch of time fixing it or replacing the line.

I used my back-up reel once, in March 2018.

Backlashed because my line had a single wrap on my rod tip, and honestly, can't remember any other backlash (except for my very first one in 1974 when I swore I'd never do that again), but sure, they go way back.

Good call on the day too, my buddy on his first TX trip and first paddle to the tide pass caught five by the time I had my back-up reel threaded on the rod.

There were still plenty to go around.

In fact, one of most consistent-catch three-day trips I can remember.  Over the three days, the spring wind made violent swings for each day, and kept everything moving.

Howdy and welcome. No advice on which reel to keep if getting rid of one.

I'd keep the Tatula Elite, but admit to being slightly biased towards Daiwa.  Of the two, I think the Tatula will get better distance.  Just my personal opinion.  Although I have a few Lew's, the BB1 Pro isn't one of them.  Bought my Tatula Elite as a 'blem'.  To me that means cosmetic.  Nope.  Internal problem.  Needs to be sent to a professional.

I dont dip into my spare reel often.   but I have.

I take one to Oklahoma with me.  it gets used EVERY single trip.  thankfully, not by me.  someone will blow up a reel, and my spare saves the day.  it is a very janky SLX DC reel.   it has be demoted to "spare" for awhile now.

In my hands the bb1 did one thing well. It was great at throwing heavy lures far. For everything else it was finicky and prone to backlash, though still serviceable.

The Tat (for me) is far more versatile, and parts for cosmetics, upgrades, and maintenance are plentiful and easy to find.

Since you will be limited to just one setup I suggest keeping the Tat.

I’d keep the Daiwa if I could only keep one. Lews seems to have the least consistent QC of all the Doyo built reels, so I wouldn’t want to have one as my only reel.
