Abu Garcia Revo SX drive shaft disassembly

Featured Replies

My main drive shaft for my Abu Garcia Revo SX recently broke in 2 and I’m trying to fix it myself.  I bought the new shaft and have the reel disassembled down to the bearing assembly around the shaft, but I’ve no idea how to take it the rest of the way apart without breaking it.  Anyone with experience with these reels know the proper way to take this apart?

Take the e clip off the bottom, remove the washer, bearing, retainer, washer and level wind drive gear. Install on the new shaft in reverse.

Don’t have knowledge of that particular reel, but I just put one back together today and can take a look with you if you want to text/FaceTime me (just DM me if you want). Or, google the reel schematics and it’ll show you the breakdown.

Thanks DVT, I looked up some vids on how to take the e ring off and that’s how I got it.  Thanks all for your inputs as well

I don’t know in this case, but 90% of the time the threads get stripped. Sometimes they get bent from a drop or fall. That’s about all that can happen to them.
