What is the least visible flurocarbon brand on the market?

Featured Replies

My go to is 10 lb Sniper for finesse applications most of the year, tied to 10 lb suffix 832 in high vis green but when it gets low and clear I feel like I have to give myself every advantage possible.

I started using a spool of 8 lb invisx I had but it’s almost gone. Is there something even less visible I could use, either brand wise or in test? 6 pound seems like it would be pushing it for bigger smallmouth and I definitely hook into channels/shovels occasionally but being invisible is top priority. Is Tatsu the best, or a waste of money/wrong choice for leader?

For the most part, thinner diameter line will be more invisible than thicker diameter. I don’t think any one line is really that much more invisible than the other, and how much does it really matter? I would suggest using what handles right and is cost efficient to your budget.

Nothing that I know of. Stick with the Invisx.

Premium FC fly tippet material is about as thin as it gets and has the advantage of being a little stiffer than FC designed for line rather than leader.  Stiffer is better for a leader, and if worried about visibility, use a little longer length than you might otherwise use.

There’s really no difference in fluoro lines for visibility. Just go with the thinnest diameter possible for conditions.

I recently got turned on to Seaguar Pounce leader, and I’m really liking it. Takes a beating from the rocks and brush, and fairly cheap to keep multiple weights on hand.

Leader spools will have better Q/C than bulk-fill line - uniform diameter and properties.

Seaguar Blue is probably the best you'll find for knot strength and toughness; Gold for highest abrasion resistance.

Blue & Gold are mainline not leader?

no Seaguar Blue and Seaguar Gold are both leader, sold in 25-yd and 50-yd spools.

If you're already shopping in Japan, you can add better leader to your order

I’m reading Gold has an issue of breaking off due to the smaller diameter, is this true? What is grand max?

GrandMax is Seaguar top-line JDM fluoro leader.

They also offer a blue-label Premium, which is 15% softer than GrandMax - 10.5-lb for same diameter.

If you're woried about knot strength, nothing is tougher than Seaguar Blue leader.

The only place I specifically pick Seaguar Gold is for 30- and 40-lb surf leader for the sand abrasion.

No I’m worried about abrasion resistance not knot strength

Gold, GrandMax, or YGK V12

If you're worried about diameter, Pick For Diameter, and let yo-yos worry about lb-test.

Most always, I'm shooting for abrasion resistance.
