Berkley Cherrywood Spinning Review.

Back in February, I purchased a Berkley Cherrywood spinning rod to keep in my car. I've used it some, not really a whole lot though. I looked at it the other day when I changed line and the tip top insert had grooves in it. It's only seen big game mono best I recall.

I have no other complaints, but their tip tops are sorry it seems.

If you like it otherwise, for 5 bux and free shipping with amazon prime it's an easy fix.

I’ve got a Berkley “Amp” that had the same issue. The inserts are more decorative than functional, tissue  paper thin and apparently made out of lead alloyed with a Wrigley gum wrapper.

Mine actually deformed around the line (10lb Fireline) in the span of a week long trip. I still use it from time to time, but watch closely for wear/erosion.

Cherrywoods hold a special place in my heart. Not the toughest, not the most sensitive, but they are dirt cheap and I used to use them as my “lighter rods” alongside Ugly Stiks. Caught my PB striper on one.

+1 on the tip top replacement guide kit. Easy to do and cheap. Don’t want a groove to be the reason your line gets cut and a big one gets off

Cherrywood rods have generally been some of the best cheap rods on the market. They are just that though so don’t expect too much.

I sent Berkley an email and they said they will replace the rod if I provide some pictures and such. I have yet to do so, but I will.
