Who has MEGA 360 Imaging, do you like it?

Featured Replies

Been thinking of picking up MEGA 360 with the universal mount. I believe it would work well with my fishing style and the lakes I fish.

I know it's not going go work mounted to the Ulterra, and I'm okay with that. The universal mount should work well. And Humminbird web site says it will pair with my Helix 9's and network.

I've seen SKU HUM411580-1 on sale for under $1k. Anything wonky with that model number?

I have it and I like it.  It's the best way to get an overall view (an idea) of the bottom structure in front of you.

I have it and I like it.  It connects directly to a fish finder unlike the original 360 which connected directly to the network.  Make sure you have a compatible fish finder,  many older models are not.

I had both 360 and Livescope on my bass boat until I sold it 2 years ago.  Got used to utilizing them both to learn a lake, structure, cover… and yes, even fish. So I added both to my kayak.

If I had to use one or the other it would still be Livescope, but I find 360 extremely helpful at times. Especially in mid summer through Fall when fish set up on off/shore bottom cover.

Useful, but only a distant second place compared with Mega Live.

I will be adding mega 360 this off season I think it will be valuable in conjunction with livescope.

The mega 360 works great with live sonar it will tell you exactly what you are looking at under the water. You are not going to see many fish on it but its always scanning so you may see a stump or brushpile you may have missed with you live sonar. Just another tool to use out there.

How does perspective mode in Livescope compare to 360? I tried perspective mode a few times when I had my Fishing Specialties pole. It was interesting, but I never really gave it a chance.

I now have the Sniper Marine pole, but the mount is static. I need to add a $250 mount if I want to be able to switch to perspective mode.

Comparing MEGA 360 to MEGA Live

MEGA 360 is much higher resolution and the beam Is 86 degrees wide.

MEGA Live in prospective mode is very low resolution.  The beam is 20 degrees wide and the image is stretched to look like 360.  It is live but there is no comparison in image quality.

I find Perspective mode very grainy and really only helpful in shallower water (less than 10 feet, 5 is better). 360 Imaging opens up a whole new realm in terms of clarity and works at all depths. The downside is that its classified as FFS and in tournaments you can only have one. If limited to just one, I still choose Livescope, but 360 sure is helpful at times.

i have 360 and find it very useful. it will work with your helix units as long as they are newer units.when i pull up on a waypoint then turn the 360 on and feel like i can put my bait exactly on the cover . also when fishing deeper grass in spring i look for the thicker clumps and patches and pitch to them and usually get more bites. in summer i can tell exactly where the deep edge is in 17 feet or so and again look for thicker clumps or hard bottom right next to it. very useful.

I installed my mega 360 last weekend just waiting for the ice to melt now.

I have Mega360 and FFS and I prefer the 360 honestly. It may be just the way and areas I fish but I'm always looking at it.

The install went surprisingly well. I was really worried that there would be a mess of wires around the bow...but it looks really clean.

Had it on the water once, pretty cool! Looking forward to getting out more.
