3700 size boxes?

Anyone other than Plano and Flambeau make them? Im considering the Plano 3700 thin, as it would be the right size for my pack, but I don't like the latches on them.

I prefer this type of latch.

But there is some merit to the Zerust box.

What's my other options?

Right now, I only need one, to use in my backpack for bank fishing. I am using a 3600 size currently, but I want to bring a bit more with me for longer trips.

Plenty make a similar size. Go on tackle warehouse and look at “large” sized boxes.

I will say that I have a bunch of different latches from both of the big two and they all work just fine. You can also add zerust dividers to any box either because it fits the divider slots or you just put a couple under the lures.

The 3700 Thin is the favorite currently because it has 5 rows, and all the other's I've seen have 4. The Pro Latch Thin has 5 rows, but it's $40, mighty stiff for a box.

Also considering the 3-28, as I can stack crankbaits in the larger compartments and probably be okay.

Here they have some of the deviders out and I originally passed over it on the website.

Not exactly a thin box but I like the ones from Kastking that resemble the Plano Edge boxes. The latch works great and so far mine have held up well.

If you are talking hard baits and keeping them singled or close to that then a 5 line might be better.  That’s going to be decent for jerkbaits, less so for bigger billed crankbaits.  For me, a 4-line box gives more flexibility for multiples.  In my 3700, 4-line Plano box I think I have about 75 lipless crankbaits.  Same box I can fit a full compliment of DT/OG series crankbaits which covers me from 1-20’.  With a 5-line 3700 box I definitely couldn’t fit as many when it comes to billed crankbaits.  Unsure on lipless without trying it.  Jerkbaits, jigs, plastics are a different story.

Honestly, I would consider if 1 3700 or a pair of 3600’s will be better for you.  I’ve got 10 3700 plus 4 3600 in my main compartment of the boat.  After the season when the water gets hard and I have nothing better to do I am going to have a look at a full conversion to 3600’s are a better choice.  I know for some things it will, so I need to pull everything out and see what the geometry of that compartment is.

Well, I was able to find a deal on Plano 3-28 boxes so I bought 2. Walmart has them on sale, if you purchase them online you get them for $5 and pick them up at the store.

That's something to think about, thanks @casts_by_fly.

For my use, I'm carrying a variety of things in 1 box. So I'll have 4 crankbaits, 4 jigs, a couple roostertails, a handful of jerkbaits, a swimbait, 4 Traps, couple spoons, and of course a handful of topwaters all in 1 box.

Certainly having 1 box dedicated to single things or styles would be the way to go for stocking a boat.

In my pack I've been carrying 2 3600 boxes, 1 standard for hard baits, and 1 thin devoted to flukes. That's worked well to keep the tails from getting kinked. Then I also have loose bags for all the other soft plastics.

I'm considering trying 2 3700 sized boxes in my pack, 1 being for hard baits, and 1 being for the majority of my soft plastics. Flukes, curlytail grubs, couple types of worms, and baby brush hogs.

I'll start by just keeping the 3600 thin for flukes, and seeing how I like the 3700 box. I have an awesome soft plastic binder that @Joedodge gifted me, that I can incorporate with this new sized backpack. I don't know about using it for flukes, but I can fit all my other soft plastics in it if I retain the 3600 thin box for flukes.

The 3600 box is great for flukes because the flukes sorta stick to it; They're a little tacky. That is great to keep them from getting bent tails.
