Checked out a Dobyns Rod

Featured Replies

  • Super User

Was at the lake, and an acquantance passed my way, he had a Dobyns rod. Not sure the model. It was Magnum Heavy 7'3" best I recall. I was impressed. Even for a heavy, it was light and balanced.

So, might have to pick up one come tax season.

I have several Dobyns rods.  If you are on a budget, check out the Maverick 734 or the Fury 734.  They may weigh a tiny bit more than other brands, but when they have a reel on them, they are perfectly balanced and feel so light when fishing.

Keep an eye on Amazon, after the GSM buyout they sell Dobyns rods and they randomly see anywhere from 30-50% discounts.

I'm being a good boy and ignoring this today. I don't get out to flip/punch enough to justify it right now.

I love my Dobyn’s champion extremes. They’re extremely well balanced. Plus, the lifetime warranty is awesome.
