Have you been using braid for everything? Its probably not the best idea to use braid with cranks, spinnerbaits, and jerks because you will rip the bait right out of the fishes mouth. This is what I've heard, and what I go by. I use braid with plastics and jigs.

Maybe its not so much of them seeing the line, but you using it. Throw some fluro on that reel!

I use braid all the time. Never pull hooks use softer rods and loosen drag.

What I do is tie a 3'-6' flouro leader using a uni to uni not and it works great for me. It a saltwater Florida thing that works great for freshwater also.

I use a lot of braid also. I no longer use flouro at all an notice no change in bites. I do use yo zuri hybrid and big game for some applications.

David Fritz, one of the world’s most renowned crankbait fishermen uses braid for his cranks. I do not usually but I have and it works well with a soft rod. Funny enough, I’m not afraid to use straight braid with topwater and traps? No issues, so why not use it for other cranks? On a square bill I have my reasons why, but it can for sure work.

I also use it for jigs/plastics, love it!

I’m a little late reading the new post on this old thread and want to acknowledge @Largemouth Hunter the new member that resurrected the thread.   That’s a heck of a first post.  This forum is full of opinions on virtually every topic.  Almost every thread has opinions on both sides based on individual experiences.  I don’t really trust anyone’s interpretation of their own fishing experiences including my own. We humans are notorious for seeing patterns in random data where there are none.

@Largemouth Hunter wondered if the visibility of braid affects fish so he did a controlled experiment and objectively looked at the results and shared them with us.  He shared how he conducted this experiment in detail so we could evaluate his approach.

Thank you @Largemouth Hunter for sharing what you’ve learned and welcome to the forum.  We’ve had hundreds of post on braid and it’s visibility.  Your post is the most informative post on the subject I’ve ever seen on this forum.  I hope you will become an active member of this great community of anglers.
