Maybe rekindled my interest in the hunt.

I had a blast.  The long drive home from Texas wasn’t great, but I had a great audiobook.

deer, hog, aoudad, and two turkeys taken.  One turkey was a fairly longer range .22lr headshot.  Super exciting.

split the meat with my bud.  He shot the goat and the hog.  We both felt like it was enough meat for the both of us.   We didn’t want to just shoot things.   I trimmed the meat and froze portions. Good to go.

I have an aoudad chili verde going right now.   Fairly tender. Flavorful and not that “goaty”.

guns cleaned and put away.  Nap time. 💤

I love to hear this. I'd love to hunt some different game that we don't have around here. Aoudad and pronghorn are on that list.

The highlight?

Hanging the wagon wheel my brother had stored for a year.  My friend and I are engineers types and we obsessed about it.   We took a day to sketch a plan, do a hardware store run to town, build, and then lift the behemoth into place.

we used the winch on the front of the jeep!

Thanks for the pics. Do you feel bad about shooting somebody's pet goat?😁

hahhah...nope.  a big Aoudad showed itself to me on day one.  but I passed.

Most excellent! Strong work!

Brother and I drove about 4 hours to south central Nebraska last weekend, trying to fill our muzzle loader deer tags. His friend at work hooked us up with family who ranch/farm in the area. It's in a mule deer conservation area...so could not shoot Muleys. Of course, we saw 40+ mule deer...and only four white-tail.

The mule deer would stand broad side and look at you. The white-tails would bolt over the hill, never to bee seen again : )   HA!

We will try to draw rifle tags for next November's hunt. Crossing fingers. L

andowner said there were some real stud Muleys around.
