Fishing gifts for….

Featured Replies

This year for Christmas My Wife got me a bunch of fishing stuff (that I picked out.)To start with I got about 10 jigs to go with the other jigs I had. I had to get something to put them in so I also got a Plano Edge 3700 jigs tackle storage. To put those jigs in. I also got a new hook sharpener, some trailers for my jigs, but the big daddy of them all was a Lews Custom Lite 7 foot medium action fishing pole. I matched that with a KVD fishing reel that I already had and I put BPS Excel 10 pound Fluorocarbon fishing line on it, which was also a gift. And to top it off a new fishing shirt. Yep I was a good boy this year…lol

Man, you’ve have learned the trick. I started doing same about 5-6 yrs ago. Every Christmas I start searching the best Black Friday deals & order exactly what I want. When it comes in, I give to wife & say…. look what you got me for Christmas honey! You can wrap & put this under the tree. 😂

 This year I got a bunch of majorly discounted Spro lures & some InvizX fluoro! Just what I wanted. 😂

Had a real short list this holiday for bait and tackle stuff. But they came through, new version of the Shimano NASCI and a handful of new Max Scent baits.
I believe in Berkley soft plastics. Have since the 80’s when they first made the scene. But I’m still on the fence for the last few years about the Max Scent baits. Overall I think the original Power plastics work better but on a real tuff bite day it seems the Max Scent will get the bite. Durability of the Max Scent is not as good but I’m hooked on using them now.

Don’t know the age of the OP, but when you get old like @wdp and me, it’s easier to buy for yourself. What I normally do is buy what I want and have a few things “held back” on a list for the wife to buy for me. So, there’s a surprise on Xmas morning. She does the same. This year, I had a rod in the tube from TW under the tree. I fam home one day a couple weeks back from getting my haircut and my 19yr old son said “we don’t want any corp advertising for Xmas”. I looked and he had wrapped the entire rod tube… you can see it in the background here. (This pic is a pic of a magnetic wristband that the wife picked up at like a checkout line or something. I had my 30yr old leather man) attached to it for present opening)…

@Smirak love the pic! 😂

i'm in my late 40s and fortunate enough to have family who still enjoy getting each other gifts for christmas and birthdays. Several years ago I started a wish list at tackle warehouse and made sure to include everything from hook bonnets ($2) to high end rods/reels ($400). Everything on the list is an item i would be ok with owning. This has allowed me to be genuinely surprised when opening gifts, and i don't have to pretend to like anything.
