This is how my tiny brain thinks:

DC = Digital Control which is run by an internal microcomputer.

Seems like something like that could break.

It's a no from me dawg.

The Shimano DC reels have been around for 20+ years now. I've personally never seen a single report of the brake module failing.

A buddy has one. I tried it, I wasn't impressed enough to buy one.

You buy a DC reel for its sound. If you don't like it, or don't care about it, DC reels have no purpose. All you get with DC reel are heavy spools because they must have magnets on them.

I like the sound, so i have them. That's it.

I can't really agree with this. You are an accomplished caster, so it may be true for you. Not everyone is a pro with a baitcaster. A DC or MagForce 3D reel can be given to a newbie and they will be casting backlash free in no time. And this is without setting the brakes near maximum like on many reels. Neither would be my first choice (or second tsk-tsk) for distance, but both are very good at normal fishing distances. Even a newbie could make normal distance casts with both reels.

EDIT: I should qualify this statement. My only experience is with the older Exsence DC. Maybe the others aren't quite as backlash free.
