DRT tiny klash

Featured Replies

This large bait seems to have a cult following for the big bait guys. They are pricey. If I were going to pull the trigger, I believe the low float is preferred, but what would the top choice for color be since there are so many colors to choose from and I could only afford to buy one? Thanks.

Low float is the popular choice for sure. I was told to think of it like a really big jerkbait and grab a colourway that suits your local jerkbait fishing.

Color Shmuller... mine is painted like a peacock bass. Remember bass see color different than we do.

Lo Float 100000%

I got lucky got to choose the color I wanted. I got the specter version 2. They are very hard to find and you may not get much choose as far as colors go. The low float is the way to go I think.

For sure get the Lo-Float. They can easily be weighted with a few lead strips to perfectly suspend just like a jerkbait. Killer bait in the Fall fished the same way. I've got a couple one is a trout pattern and one is a golden shiner. If I could only have one I'd get one that's a bit silvery and reflective just a generic "bait fish" pattern.

I've had a couple of the actual DRT's and a few of the KO's. They all catch fish and I've had everything from an unpainted, clear KO, to a bright pink KO and and a DRT with a bright chartreuse back, they all catch fish. It's a pretty cool bait that can be fished a variety of ways. The lip and tail are removeable and interchangable and depending on which direction the tail is put in or which tail/lip you have on will change the action. I prefer to fish them with the lip out so they glide side to side a little further and don't run as deep.

Clear lake candy, specter, and magic trout are my color choices. They all have been very productive.

fyi - they can be a pain in the ass to learn how to fish. Especially the TK in glide mode.

Thought you’d never ask 🤣 The hype is real. Killer bait that shines in cold water. It does a lot of things and it’s good at them. But imo the Tk is BEST as a jerkbait. I weight every one I get to suspend. Occasionally I will slow roll them with a deep lip, but 99% of the time I’m fishing it EXACTLY like a jerkbait. Once spawn arrives they go away til fall. Dobyns 794, tatula 200, and 40lb braid to 20lb mono leader for me. Short lip is best because it has a lot less drag than stock. And I prefer the vtail because it looks more natural which I like because they’re gonna get a good look at it on pauses. As said, some of the knockoffs are very good. They obviously not made as well and they tend to take a good bit more weight to suspend. But I’ve caught 6-7lbers on both. Again, as said, all colors get bit. There’s literally hundreds of colors most people don’t even know about. I like trouts, shads, perch. Get a color you like and it’ll smash em. You can see in the first pic there is ice on the pond we had to break up. Best cold water swimbait ever made, and it’s not even close.

I have never cared for any of the DRT baits and don't understand the hype behind them. As someone that fishes "big" baits more than most people DRT klashes are like a crescent wrench. Sure, it works, but I would rather have the right size wrench or a socket if it allows.

They aren't hard to get - you just pay a bit for them. More than I want to pay for something that's less refined than other things I csn get at that price point.
