Three bank charger

Featured Replies

Hey y’all,

Looking to replace my mounted three bank charger on my boat.

The charger is used to charge up two 12.8 volt lithium batteries for my trolling motor. Have the third one Incase I need it for my cranking battery which is lead.

My question to yall, does anyone run a three bank charger that’s not permanent or mounted? Or is that the preferred way?

Thanks

I’m hard mounted because that’s what I wanted but you can do it unmounted if you want. It just means connecting each battery when you charge. On the kayak I used a noco genius single that had interchangeable plugs. I left a plug wired to each battery permanently so I just plugged the charger into them when I was home. I had to swap them since it was a single bank. The 2 and 4 bank genius have the same plug setups and you could do the same. That said, any reason not to have it onboard? You get higher powered units and don’t have to mess around with multiple connections every trip. I love that I back my boat into the garage and there is a plug within reach of my charger cord.

No reason to not have it on board except being lazy trying to squeeze it in the right place

I have a 2-bank for lithium onboard for 24v trolling motor.

Single bank for lead acid starting battery onboard opposite side.

When you say " not permanently mounted " is it already hooked up to the batteries and just laying in there
