Spinning reel spacer washers

Featured Replies

Are they relatively universal? I have a Stradic 2500 FL that the line is bunching at the top of the spool a bit and I do not have the washers that came with the Stradic, but I do have some that came with a new Lew's I bought that I was curious if they would suffice.

not sure, but is the line stacking when you fish it?

reason I ask is I have a stradic FK that bunches line up when you spool it, but on the water (I guess under load) it winds it in dead evenly.

Yes. It is slightly stacked to the top and the spool has some up and down play on the shaft, so a washer is needed on the top of the spool.

If they fit the driveshaft I'd give it a whirl.

FWIW, all my worm-drive Shimanos, '19 Vanquish, '19 Stradic, '20 Twin Power

required at least 0.5-mm spool shim to spool a spare spool.

The parts that come in the Shimano boxes are worth their weight in gold - p/n 10. The Shimano part simply stacks onto the outside of the spindle.

Don't have a photo with the spool removed (and don't intend to remove a spool to shoot one).

But this example shows you how different they are on a Tica reel - p/n 12 - much larger diameter, around a rotor bearing, and below the pay-clicker spring.

I wouldn't expect them to be universal except for a common Shimano part.

It depends on the reel. Some spacers just fit over the shaft, others fit over a bearing holder, or over a bearing.

I am going to try it tomorrow and see if these fit.
