Owner ST-36BC #4 question

Featured Replies

I was replacing the hooks on a couple baits today and noticed an oddity with my #4 Owner ST36-BC trebles.

For whatever reason my pack of #4 has an offset eye and the wire gauge seems oddly large.

#4 "ST-36BC" with offset hook eye

Every other example I have of the ST-36BC, size 10,8,6,1,2,2/0 all have an in-line eye

Even these Owner tournament feather trebles that say they are built on a #4 ST-36 are in-line.

So I'm just curious, did I get a pack of counterfeits? incorrectly packed wrong model? is the #4 just an oddball hook? etc. If anyone has a pack of #4 ST-36BC they can check I would appreciate it.

Amazon? I’d say a counterfeit. My feather trebles look like the ones you have pictured.

@Motoboss they have been in a box forever but probably did come from Amazon. Actual photos not marketing shots of the #4 online all appear to be an inline hook so guessing someone swapped/returned them.

A possibility. They even look shiny chrome in the photos which is weird for Owner trebles.

@Motoboss yeah there's definitely something off about them. Guess I'm just looking for a sanity check before I replace them but all evidence points to getting a return from Amazon that someone scammed.

Agree there is something off. I just checked a bunch of owners here and all of them inline eye.

st-36bc #4, #6, #8, STX-38zn #4, STY-35mf #4. I looked at 2, 1, 1/0 and they were also inline.

Definitely fishy. All my hooks have come from dedicate fishing retailers we all know. I think your spider senses are correct. Amazon should make you whole - I have found they are good for that.

@Hartwood71 unfortunately I purchased them in 2023 so I will have to eat the cost, but it's not a big deal. My fault for not noticing then and just tossing them in the hook box until they were actually needed haha.

Compared to a legit ST36 from TW they look even worse! D

Thanks again everyone for the quick help. Moral of the story is always check your Amazon orders closely, not 3 years after you buy something, and support real tackle shops and vendors.
