Worm Rods

In yalls opinion, what’s the best work or soft plastics rod on the market? Doesn’t matter the price. Just curious

Too vague to answer... Weightless or weighted plastics?... What range of weight, type of cover.... My two favourites would be megabass p5 xbites for weightless and nrx plus 893c for under 3/8 in light cover... Open water would be nrx plus 873c for 1/2oz and under.... 894c for above 1/2oz....

Well I’m not probably fishing as specific as you. I’m prob more of a broad range of plastics in all. I appreciate the feedback.

Any time behind any of the megabass “plastics” rods?

Fmj? BMG? Dark sleeper? Super destroyer? Etc

I've sold off all my p5s except for my xbites and 2 javelins.. 3 yr warranty is a deal breaker for me for such high end rods....

No idea. Haven't tried all rods made. Have paid less than $200 for all my rods. Currently set up a Helium 3 Light MHF for weightless ribbontails. I've used several MHF rods with success. Guess the best is what a person has the most confidence in. I plan on trying a couple other rods as the 10 or 10.5 inch weightless ribbontail is a favorite of mine.

I'm curious what others think.

When someone mentions a worm rod, I automatically thing of a T-rigged worm behind a bullet weight. A MH/ModFast rod will handle most up to and including 1/2oz. The length I would recommend is 6'6" for target casting and as long as you're comfortable with for distance casting. The Mod/Fast action will make throwing the lighter offerings easier.

The best all around worm rod I have ever used is the Daiwa Tatula Elite Brent Ehrler 7' M-MH/XF rod. It will throw them weightless if the wind isn't too bad and it will throw them with a 3/8oz weight just fine and still has enough power to pull them out of some cover.

You can buy a more sensitive rod, but the power and action is what makes it.

I might have to look into

That one.

That's a wide open question. I own Abu, 1st gen 13 Fishing, Douglas, Fish Extreme and Kistler rods, and use Kistler 97% of the time. I use a 7'3" MH/F and a 7' LMH/F Kistler Helium nearly all the time. I find the LMH (light-medium-heavy) better for medium worms and tubes. Its backbone is very close to the MH, but the tip is just a little softer.

Kistlers are high quality and most of their products are still made in Texas.

If you're on a budget, Douglas' ERA series is a nice $99 rod. I have their 7'1" MH/F ERA. It's not quite as sensitive as my Heliums, but they're well built and half the price.

Best of luck picking out your worm rod.

The two I use the most are a Kistler Helium TCJ MHF, and a Falcon Lowrider MHF.

If price isn't a factor, the Steeze AGS BC2.

The “best” in my hand is gonna be different in yours and anyone else’s for that matter.

Balance and sensitivity can’t be quantified.

I’d put my 15yr old Fenwick Techna AV up against anything anyone else has regardless of what they paid.
