I assume the JDM 2000 size = our domestic 1000?

Nope....I've got an Ultegra 1000 and it's the same size as my Avocet RZT 1000, so the sizes line up...a 2000s is a 2500 body with a shallow spool

I’m definitely not going to say the 2000 JDM isn’t bigger than the 1000 domestic size but my JDM 2000 shallow spool Miravel is pretty much the same body size as my domestic 1000 sized Stradic.IMG_0188.jpegIMG_0190.jpeg

I've got a 1000 Ci4+ and a 2000 Vanford and the spool is a little bigger (diameter) on the Vanford. I use both for Ultra Light for crappie using mini tubes. For anything over 1/16 oz I would go with the 2000. Both are great reels very durable for their size. I've caught some large bass while crappie fishing even a 30 pound carp and they are still working great.

If it says C2000, it's small 1000 frame. (Same with C2500 - it's just a deeper spool)

2500 and C3000 are medium frame.

4000 and 5000 are large frame.

JDM C2000 and 1000 - both small frame.

@bulldog1935I've always been confused about this, I have a USDM Stradic 1000 and am considering picking up a JDM Stradic C2000S. Since they share the same body size, I’m wondering which one has greater line capacity—the USDM 1000 or the JDM 2000S. Is the spool on the 2000S just a bit larger in diameter than the 1000, allowing it to hold more line?

Thanks

@T2DM JDM C2000SHG and USM 1000HG FM are the exact same reel, same gear ratio, same spool.

All my spinners are '18-Stella series (FL), but this is JDM C2000SHG, and JDM was $80 cheaper.

Thanks for the reply but check the spool size difference on the pictures below.

Curious photo, looks more like C2500 spool.

Here's the '23 Stradic chart from the same publication.

Based on the line specs below USDM Stadic 1000 holds 160yd of 4lb mono:Screenshot 2026-04-12 230252.jpg

While JDM Stradic 2000S holds 100yd of 4lb mono.

I know both holds enough line for intended use but still...

Odd f'n question.

Guess at some point Shimano USM chain homogenized US fishers as big mono users. They keep the good stuff at home.

I have the Vanford 1000 paired to a SC Avid 70 L/EF panfish rod and I have been very pleased with it for throwing tiny jigs/small baits.

I've got my Miravel 1000 on a Daiwa Procyon L/F for the same purpose.
