megabass really worth it?

Featured Replies

This thread has inspired me to throw more 110 Jr's. I got sick of them t-boning the Pointer and missing the hooks.

They slow-float with the current water temp and the Smallmouth hate them to death. Great success.

They make great baits that's for sure. I think if you can bite the bullet they are worth it. The SV3 has become my go-to spinnerbait above all others. The vision 110 has cemented itself as an all-time legendary bass bait. The dark sleepers are a smallmouth killer.

The karashi is hands down a must for bfs fishing, megabass rods are legit too. The other megabass stuff is ehh.

If you want a cheaper version of the karashi try these 1/4oz floating rogues. Ive found that I can fish them basically the same places with the same gear

Their "standards" are great, marginally worth it at msrp. Their "weirdo" baits are a huge waste IF you don't figure out what to do with them. IE the vision 110 lbo... floats faster than a helium balloon out of a kids hand. It's a $25 floating Rapala. The Bottom Slash is wildly overlooked on the other end of their oddball baits.

Their plastics are good but certain baits aren't world changers (looking at you spark shad) but the bottle shrimp is awesome and very unique.

That is how it always starts. Please tell me how it ends.

It doesn’t.

As for the spark shad/crush city mayor debate, just my 2 cents…

Have a small-ish lake near me that empties into a creek that empties into a larger creek. Where smaller and larger creek meet, I’ve been catching 10-13 a day on the spark shad. All smalls, but fun on BFS gear none the less…yesterday, I had a mayor tied on and couldn’t even get a follower or anyone interested. I was throwing a 3” shad color of some type. Switched to a 3” spark shad (color:real) on a 1/8 okashira screw head and caught one on the first cast. As for all the other MB stuff, YMMV. I have a ton of baits and a few rods. I love it all…

Evidently I think the Visions are worth the price. I have a few $100s of them.
