which combo???

Featured Replies

im looking for a good spinning rod/reel combo. i usually just pick up a rod/reel that i think will do the job, i never looked deep into this. i heavily fish with soft plastics such as worms, grubs and lizards and love to fish rapala husky jerks, i basically never fish crankbaits or spinnerbaits even though i have some. i do alot of small lake fishing. i always fish from shore and i heavily rely on sight fishing, anyways my limit for this is about $100 what would you guys think? also which action and rod length would be best for this outfit?

I use a  shimano clarus 6-6 fast action rod along with 8 pound trimaxx and a ABU-Garcia 602 and it is perfect for what ur talking about

Get the BPS combo with the Pflueger President reel.

JT Bagwell

Get the BPS combo with the Pflueger President reel.

I agree, that will serve you well for years and I would go with 6'6'' MH and a 2500 size reel

Yeah, there are several BPS combos that will do the job.

The Shimano Sahara/Bionic Blade

The Shimano Spirex/Bionic Blade

And if you can save another $40 and catch a sale (which there are quite often), the Shimano Stradic/BPS Extreme would be even better!

The Spirex/Bionic blade is on sale at BPS for under $90.  If you must stay under $100, this should be a good combo for you.

im gonna go with the spirex combo, great deal, would it be best to get a 6 or 6'6" rod , M or MH???

one thing about the spirex you might want to know, is that it doesn't have infinite anti reverse (super stopper)

the rotor has to return to where the trigger is facing up.  which means when you set the hook it can make almost a complete turn backwards.  which can make setting the hook more difficult.

if you can find a bps combo with the sahara i thing it would be a better deal.  since the sahara has the super stopper feature

oh, and probably a 6'6" MH since you fish plastics alot

6'6" will get you longer casts from shore and the MH will be able to get a good hookset
