Strike King Diamond Shad

I ran into a couple vintage Strike King Diamond shads. They are similar to Rat-L-Traps in size and shape. I haven't used them yet, but I expect them to work just like a real trap. Anyone have opinions good or bad about the Diamond shad?

Like all good things sometimes they go to the way side. I had tremendous luck on them back in the day. Wish they still produced them

I have started a small collection of vintage lures. Diamond Shad and Bayou Boogie are on my "to get" list. Display.jpg

That is still one of my favorite lipless cranks. I have three still in my possession and will break one out occasionally, but only in shallow water because I know I can get them back if I get hung up. They still work as well as when I originally purchased them.

How do they compare to an original Rat-L-Trap?

I’ve got a couple left - Always thought they were the best shallow water rattle bait ever made. Little slower fall rate than the RatLTrap, little tighter action than the Spot (and way more consistent in manufacture).

Big fan of the Diamond Shad. They were cheap and very effective baits. The diamond pattern reflected light in all directions and it really seemed to attract the fish.

I appreciate all the info. I haven't re-hooked them and fished them yet, but I'll definitely give them a try.
