G. Loomis 852 vs 872

Featured Replies

Just curious if anyone has fished the 872S for wacky rig fishing and liked it better than the 852S.

I can't speak for the 852S but I have the 872S NRX+ and it is by far my favorite wacky Senko rod. Its sensitive, has plenty of power, and it can cast a long way.

872s has a much softer tip... I use mine for drop shot... 852s for finesse soft plastics or ned rig...

I have an 852 and it’s a pretty versatile rod. Probably one of my favorite spinning rods.

No experience with 872.

872s length is all in the softer tip. Gives you more casting distance. I own the 852 and love it. If you don’t mind the length go 872.

Thanks guys! I don't mind longer spinning rods. I just wasn't sure if the 872's softer tip would be an issue with hook sets using wacky rigs. Ty
