I feel weird fishing them. Always have on any private pond; dunno why.

I'm fishing my pal's pond this morning, the pond where I landed a 24.65-pound bag in 1.5 hours this spring. Do I feel weird fishing it? Nah, I feel grateful.

Besides using noisy lures and fishing slowly, what else should we be trying?

Golf? 🤣

Yup. I'm just weird.

@all ,

I was going through my tackle storage this evening and found that I am severely deficient in squarebills. Apparently I neglected buying more since gravitating to jigs and soft plastics.

My preferred brand is Sebile. I've had the best results in rivers with those. Plus they always seem to my on sale, so they're cheap to replace when I inevitably destroy them on rocks. The flat sides seem to add to the action, too.

But I can't find them.

Were that discontinued??

My second favorite are the older crawdad-looking ones with metal bills. Those are nearly indestructible.

I haven’t seen a Sebile crank in a really long time, I don’t think they’re in business anymore.

If you’re looking for a cheap squarebill, there’s some good options out there. If you have a Scheel’s near you, their $3.99 house brand squarebill is surprisingly good. Bomber 5A’s are usually $5 or less, and most Walmarts have OG Cordell Big O’s in the bargain box. For a few bucks more, the KVD 1.5 pretty much sets the standard for shallow squarebills these days.
