Thanks, guys, for all the suggestions. Your generosity has given me way more options than I can use, but I have seven rods rigged in the back of my car with several new-to-me lures. I'll soon see what works!

Good Luck!

Getting around for my retirement league fishing this morning.

Will look forward to seeing the results! Stay Hydrated!!

Thanks, Dooger! I caught 21 and every bass was on weightless soft plastic. It didn't seem to matter what I tossed (fluke, craw, worm, frog) as long as it was weightless. I did try some weighted lures, but nada. I'll post a trip report in the Latest Catch Pics Thread.

My first thought was also the Johnson's Silver Minnow. It will come through anything when the weed guard is adjusted to 1/8 inch above the hook point. Be sure to sharpen the hook. I use the old style rubber spinnerbait skirt for a trailer but most anything will work - even a straight tail plastic worm.

When you get strike try to wait for a second or two before setting the hook.

This. My dad does well with a silver minnow. Only downside is the hook sucks, and pickerel/pike love them more than the bass.

Deps Cover Scat. They're made for this mission. Heavy without any weights. And fish inhale them!

I'm going to buy some. Thanks!

The 3" weighs over 3/8th oz and the 3.5" well over 1/2 oz. So size according to cover and gear.

These also skip like nobody's business and can walk the dog...underwater. So you have additional options.

Good luck!

@RRocket: With all that glitter, they look like Barbie poop, if Barbie could poop. Seriously, thanks for the tips. I'm ordering some this morning.

Bottom color was new this year, so as an avid pooper I thought I'd try it.

My personal favorite is #144 Pumpkin Cheesecake. GP with a flat caramel bottom. And of course Black or craw colors (Scuppernong) are great standbys.

Curious to see what you end up with and how it works for you!

Weightless baby d bomb is a slow sinker I like. And the caffeine shad is my absolute go to for a slow sinking soft plastic

In Goby water, cheese cake is delicious... One of my favorites also.

I ordered the poop baits. I wanted Deps, but the selection was really limited, so I went with Yamamoto. Excited to try them!

I LOVE the look of this lure. I already placed a TW order this morning, but I'll order some Toads next time.

Let me know if you get some & how they work for you. So far, we’ve been having some success with them & enjoy fishing with ‘em.

T rigged beaver type bait. Big Bite Yo Momma would be a great choice for you. They have a large hook slot and are easy to drive a hook through. They're also available in bulk bags at a good price. Catches 'em from ice out till ice over.

I've been using a T-rigged beaver style bait because you suggested it a long time ago, Tim, and the bass love it. I'll Google Big Bite Yo Momma right now.

Dep cover scat is what I think they are called.

Yamamoto the bass love them, but they don’t last real long.

I bought both brands, so I'll soon see!

I like the smaller size. It gets me more bites than the full size version.

I have been experimenting on a few baits recently based n information I recent from a fellow angler that told me he was getting bites on the fall with some 'bulkier' plastics (OK, it was an Ika). This got me to wondering what other soft plastics might behave similarly. Being that an Ika is bigger than the microshad and tiny bass fry that the bass have observedly been feeding on, this suggested that the bass could be looking for bluegill, crawdads, or prawns to feed on.

Being a bit of a tinkerer, I tried some other baits that might have similar bulky profiles, or behave in similar ways. The first thing I came upon was the Berkley Flux Gill. I started fly-lining them n a 3/0 EWG and did pretty well on them. In windier conditions on main lake points I also began using an Owner Ultra Finesse jighead in 2/0-1/8 oz and that also works superbly. This is a pic of the 3.5" on the jighead.

Next, I decided to try a 5" Fuzzy Senko cut in half using the same hooks, and this seems to be working even better for me. Last Friday morning, on my first six casts I boated six fish before my streak was broken. The fish have absolutely loved this bait.

Wow. I like when pics are posted of rigged lures. And I like how you experiment.

The action of the Flux Gill on a Neko is impressive...
