Anybody tried Yozuri #12 lb. Hybrid as a main line for chatterbaits ? I know the marjority of bladed jig users prefer FC line in that #15 lb. - #17 lb. test range but the Yozuri #12 lb. Hybrid line should be in the ball park : It has some stretch to it so you don’t yank the bladed jig out of a basses mouth so quickly, it’s fairly invisible , it’s pretty tough against abrasions , ties decent knots , handles better than FC line and is more cost effective. I still use FC line (Seaguar , P-Line) but if there is not a major difference in using a good co-poly / FC hybrid line like the Yozuri Hybrid #12 to get good hook ups with a bladed jig - then why not ? Conversely , if FC line is noticeably better with hook sets or some other reason that results in more landed bladed jig bass then that’s a major reason not to stray away from using FC main line for chatterbaits … Your thoughts and experiences ?

I use yozuri hybrid 12lbs for a lot of stuff as my mainline. It’s my fav go to line and I use it for chatterbaits all the time with no issues as all. I tried 15lbs and went back to 12lbs and found it perfect for my uses.

I run it often as leader and have used it as main line without issue. I have 8,10,12lb for different uses. Go for it...

I use 12# for chatter/spinnerbaits

I use 10# for 1/2oz+ crankbaits

I use 8# for lighter crankbaits.

I love the fact that it's pretty much neutrally buoyant, it has more stretch than FC but less than mono - middling between them, and it's nearly as abrasion resistant as pure FC - probably because of how it's spun....narrow threads of FC embedded in a mono base - not mono with an FC sheath like most hybrids.

I've been using 12lb Yozuri on all my casting rods this year other than one that I have braid on.

There is a significant increase in thickness from #12 lb. to #15 lb. with Yozuri Hybrid , so try to focus on line diameter snd not the pound test rating when comparing lines.

Indeed there is. I go by diameter when it comes to yozuri. I found once you get above 12lbs for the YZH, the line is much stiffer and not as easily managed.

I use 12# hybrid on my bladed jig rod 90% of the time. For thicker weeds and laydowns, I bump it up to 15# invisx which I use for my senkos and lighter t-rigs.
