Featured Replies

First and foremost do you find it neccessary to lube or tune a brand new reel? or do you consider it ready to go besides the fine tuning you need to do as far and braking and such?

next...

I'm contimplating over a Curado, Citica and Chronarch, Please tell me all you know of each reel and any comparison input between the three... please be specific with pros and cons and personal opinions, thanks guys! I love this place!

As for lubing the reel, grease lasts a los more than reel oil, the reel may not need grease but oil it 's a different story, I always oil the spool supporting bearings even right out of the box.

Tuning ....... it really depends on how much and with what you want to tune, there are degrees of tuning, simple tuning may begin with different lubrication, from there you can continue to changing the bearings, changing the drag pads, changing the handle and so on, but every step increases the cost of the reel, money you could have spent in purchasing another reel or the next two or three steps above what you are tunning.

Let me give you an example, the Ch 50/51Mg retails for 250 then let 's say you want the reel to look kool by adding a carbon fiber handle with bearing supported reel knobs ( you are not going to "shave" weight, on the contrary, by doing this swap in handles you are going to add weight ), that adds another 100 bones = 350 ....... Crap, that 's a lot of money for a simple Ch 50/51 Mg ! for less you can get the new Metanium Mg and choose from the regular 6.2 or the 7.0 GR and the reel already comes with bearing supported knobs.

Between the Citica, Curado & Chronarch ...... that my friend depends greatly on how much you want or are willing to spend, the three are great reels. From the 3 I would go for the Curado 100 D.

I guess I should have stated I already have a Curado 100-B, I'm leaning towards the Chronarch, money isn't an issue when I'm mouse clicking for reels 8-) it's an issue when the reel gets to me and I look at the bank statement online so for this discussion let's leave money out of it ;) i'll deal with those consequences after I can't take back the purchase ;)

Well, if money is not the overriding issue, add the Calais to your list for consideration.

Oh! It's not that easy...There are several models to choose from. For a high performance "all around" reel, I recommend the CL200ASV (6.2:1), but you may prefer the smaller frame of the CL100A (5.8:1).

Both are priced at $389.99.
