Shimano reel and rod size?

Featured Replies

Please help me out.  I'm strictly bass fishing. What size spinning Shimano reel and rod should I get.  2500 or the 4000?  M or MH rod?

Go with a 2500 M.

Yep, I agree 100% A 4000 spool is over kill and notably much heavier.

I like the 2500 size reel but I use both the M and MH rods depending on the baits.

Welcome aboard!

My preference is a 6 1/2' or 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action rod and 2500 series reel.

The downside of the 4000 size shimano reel is its wieght.  I like the extra line capacity, but not the extra wieght.  I would go for the 2500.

Thanks guys.  I have a friend that tells me to get the 4000, but I always thought it would be too much for bass fishing.  I'll go with the 2500.

2500,i have it on a 5'6 light but its still hevy enough to go onto a 6' or larger......its better if the reel is to small rather than 2 large and i think the 4000 is to big
