Finally Tried Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft

Featured Replies

I'v been reading Roadwarrior's posts on Yozuri Hybrid for awhile now. I finally broke down and spooled a reel up with it yesterday. I got 8# test on a cheap Diawa reel, but so far I love this stuff. I may switch all my spinning reels over to it. I mean this line made even a cheap reel and when I mean cheap like less than $20 work better than I expected.

Thanks Roadwarrior

I'll second that. I was getting snagged on alot of branches this weekend and instead of the line breaking, I was pulling the branches out of the water.

I glad the Ultra Soft seems to be working out for you. Line is something I think that is easy to experiment with, most lines are relatively inexpensive compared to our other equipment. I have fished with a number of brands and a variety of products within the brand families. I'll continue to experiment with a couple of different lines every year, but for now this is my preferred line.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft is an especially good fit for spinning tackle where memory is such a big issue. I'm more likely to stick with the line on this equipment even if I fish another line on my baitcasters. I fished with Bud in Kentucky last year and tried Sunline Defier on one of his baitcasters. That's a fine line, but expensive. For baitcasters, it is an option I would consider, but my current "experiment" is going back to original formula Hybrid #12. BPS has the orginal on sale, 1000 yards for $6.88. That's a great deal, so I'm giving it another try.

Big T,

Just in case you didn't know, yo-zuri #6 and #8 are same strength and different diameter....  yes I thought it was a typo in the chart also but emailed them about it for confirmation.

So if you aren't fishing tons of trees or rocks, you might actually get better performance from the #6, at least better casting.

My experience was that the #6 was great on my spinning reel but the #8 was a little wirey for my taste.

Thanks Flechero, I will definately try the 6#. When I bought it I was on my way to the Intercoastal Waterway for a little inshore action and thought that the 8# might be a little stronger. If they are the same then I will go with the 6#. The lake where I go Bass fishing has alot of stumps, but there are areas that are clear of debris. The lake is actually five differently lakes divided by dikes. It was created as a cooling pond for Progress Energy. The river is is a different story, it is a dark tanic water, does have some hang ups, I have not fished it much, but may start as I have grown tired of fighting crowds and getting aggrevated in the saltwater environment, too many pleausre boaters that do not know what they are doing.
