I had to vote Abu for a couple of reasons (though for spinning reels I like Shimano).

I HATE low profile baitcasters.

Almost all Abu Garcias have levelwinds that move during the cast. It's very rare in other reels. The other companies that make baitcasters this way only do so for specific sizes of baitcaster. No low profile reel does it either and it's one of the reasons I dislike them.

Good quality reels for the price that will last a lifetime if taken care of. I use them for many different species and the hold up to my smaller catfish as well (less than 30#).

Diawa (free) spinning reel primarily.

Quantum (low end) bait casting reels primarily.

ive got an okuma spinning reel, never let me down. but im getting a shimano citica soon so im gonna try that out before i vote for anything.

i only use daiwa and shimano, and i love both brands. my top 2 is my Daiwa Steez, and my Shimano MG 50
