Flouro or YZ Hybrid

Featured Replies

I hear alot about Yo Zuri Hybrid and flourocarbon. I am getting a Johnny Morris baitcaster and will be using it mostly for t-rigs,jigs, and weightless plastics (senkos and ikas).  Which would you use? I am thinking of about 12# or 14#.

Anyone?

15 lb. PLine CXX... :-X

CXX is mono isnt it? I want something w/ less stretch than mono.

Very little stretch.  Strongest non-braided line on the market.  Very abrasion resistant.

CXX is very strong, but many people don't like it because it's soooo stiff. I've used it a few times, and 10lb is much too stiff for me.

Try CXX but also try CX if you're looking into Pline. I use 15lb CX and have bent hooks from pulling them out of rocks. Both are very tough but CX isn't as stiff.

Many will also say try Yo Zuri ultra Soft #12. Supposed to be very strong too, but I don't have experience with it (I just ordered some last week).

Unless you're fishing amazingly clear water, line visibility shouldn't be too much of a concern, and neither CX or CXX stretch enough for it to be a concern what so ever.

If you're set on Fluoro, Seagur Invizx is awesome stuff.

Sounds good. is it very visible?

No more so than any other line.  I use flourescent.

I like Seaguar Invizex.  I used it for trout this year on my light set up (4lb test) for trout and sunnies.  I liked it on a spinning reel but it was kinda stiff.  I think on a baitcaster its good.  I use Yo-Zuri hybrid ultra-soft (8lb test) on my spinning reel and I like it.

hey fishindude- you can't go wrong with YoZuri Hybrid #12 on your baitcaster.  No other line goes on my casters, except my frog rod which is rigged with braid.

I think you would be very happy with Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12 (19.5 lb test).

All my baitcasters in exception to two of them have Izorline Platinum XXX on them or P-Line CXX both have higher breaking strengths abrasion resistance and little stretch. I've straightened out hooks with 8lb CXX on my spinning set up. Both are a little stiff but perfect for casting reels. Now if you are fishing crystal clear water thats where my other rod comes in it has Seagar Carbon-Pro on it for jig fishing and the other is 50lb Sufix braid for throwing lipless cranks in grass. Hope this helps.

I'm definitely a CXX man myself, but I also use fluoro on my jig and spinning rods.  I don't think CXX is very bad at all in the 8-12lb tests (which I use for cranks), and I use the 15 on my spinnerbait rods and it is tolerable.  I use the 'Crystal Clear' CXX, and it undoubtedly has the most clarity of any clear line I've used.  I can fill up a spool to the brim, and with a shot of reel magic I can see the bottom of the spool!  I have never broken off a fish with CXX...if you get hung up, you won't lose your bait either.  On my cranks, it will bend the snagged treble until it gives...with 10lb line!  For fluoro, I like the new Trilene fluoro...VERY good stuff; I liked it so much I bought 2 2000yd spools of it!

Like RW said 12# YZ H..will do the job. If your worried about visibility I would go with the Lo-vis green color they have.
