My wife just bought me a Pfluger Supreme spinning reel and I wanted to know if they are a nice reel or should it be returned.

Spinning or casting?

Good Lord, man.  They are nice reels - doesn't matter is its spinning or casting.  Wish my wife bought me nice stuff like that.

I have 3 of them. They are great reels in my opinion. I wouldnt return it.

I took a Stradic back becouse I couldn't get the bail to return, and bought the Supreme in the 30 size. I now have 3. Great reel for the price.

bails should be closed by hand.most pros do it that way for 2 reasons.the first is they pull out any loops and then close it and the second is you will never have a bail spring failure this way.

If you start closing your bail by hand, it will become second nature quickly.

It is something I never even notice doing anymore. This applies to every spinning reel, regardless of the brand.

I asked the question "spinning or casting" because I haven't used the spinning reel, and I don't comment on anything I haven't tried.

The casting reel is excellent. I've been using it since Christmas, and have had not problems. Very smooth.
