Question about Sol

Featured Replies

I was wanting to know about the daiwa sol, are they good for throwing cranks and lipless cranks or are they a finesse reel, I noticed the low line capacity.   I was thinking about one for my new carrot stix but I am not sure if it would be suited to my fishing style.

I am open to suggestions too.  I like to throw cranks alot, I normaly throw shallow to mid range ones and alot of rattletraps.  That is what is rod will be used for. I want a reel that will feel right on it but still serve my needs.  Without breaking the bank ( no more than $200)

With a 5.8:1 gear ratio, seems the Sol would be hard to beat as a dedicated crankbait reel.   I don't think the line capacity would be a limiting factor at all.

Ii use my sol for nothing but throwing cranks and smaller spinnerbaits and i absolutely love the thing. The line capacity has never been an isue with me.

How is it for finesse? I have the spinning but have heard the caster is good for finesse also?

Yup, good finesse baitcaster with some limitations, really smallish offerings like 1/16 th ounce you better have a L - UL rod that loads up or even though the reel can do it you are going to have a really bad time trying to make long casts.
