Looking for a Nice reel.

Featured Replies

Hey, Im looking for a nice reel for about 70-150, but I'll go for 160 is I have to. I plan to be using it mainly for throwing jigs and flipping baits. I was thinking about getting the Shimano Stradic. Any ideas of some good reels, particularly for flipping/jigging? What you think of the Stradic?

I think the Stradic is the best value in the Shimano line-up. If you want to save money, the current or "old" model is being phased out and on sale. However, although I have not actually fished the New Stradic, I suspect the enhancements are well worth the money. If it were me, I would by the new technology.

For the money the clearance Shimano Stradics are hard to beat.  My wife bought a 2500.  I used it and had to have one.  I also bought 2 to use as Christmas presents.  They were $99 at BPS.

I agree 100%. That is a GREAT value!

i tell you what the stradic is a great reel, BUT, i am a fan of baitcasters for flipping i would suggest the shimano citica. $120 very good reel for that price. i am sure someone will back me up on this.

You might want to look at some baitcasters...

Never learned to fish a baitcaster, and I don't feel like learning to use them at the moment, atleast not now. I rather just stick with my spinning reels. Eventually I'll give the baitcasters a shot, but not now.

my first baitcaster was a citica....and I learned how to use it really quick...one of my all time fav. reels
