Quantum Burst Baitcast Reel

Never heard of it...

If it doesn't have the name:

Tour Edition PT, Energy PT, Accurist PT, Accurist CX, Mantra, Xenon, Classic MG, Iron, 1310, Pulse, Icon...

It isn't one of Quantum's regular line-up, and is probably an exclusive for the store you saw it at, or a re-branded item. If so then the facory doesn't support it. If your looking at Quantum reels stick to the line up that is supported by the factory...

Tight Lines!!!!

No Offense to reelmechanic intended, this is a new rell in the Quantum lineup for 2008. The Code replaced the Accurist CX in the lineup this year and the Burst is the next step down. The reel will have a composite frame, 6 bearings, available in either 6.2:1 or 7.0:1 gear ratios, and at a weight of 7.84 ounces. This reel was still not on the Quantum website the last time I looked, and is probably too new for anyone to have any real experience with.

I thought that the Burst was a Dick's Sporting Goods exclusive myself, but  I may be wrong.

Definetly not a Dick's exclusive. Cabelas has this reel on their website already,it is 69.99. BPS has the code on their site for 79.99 and it looks like a much nicer reel. It appears Quantum is slow on updating their site.

Interesting. Any idea why it is listed under "Cabela's Quantum Burst" rather than Quantum Burst?

It is a different look and weight around 2 ounces less than all other Quantum reels.

I have no idea why Cabelas is referring to the reel as the Cabelas Quantum Burst. A quick Google search shows the reel to be available at Allwatersfishing. I found information in the TackleTour ICAST coverage as well. The Code is heavier at 9.47 oz., however it comes with an aluminum frame, two extra bearings, ACS cast control and a swept handle and drag star. The Burst comes with the DynaMag cast control and a flat handle and drag star.

I already have 2 of the Burst reels and just from casting them around in the driveway I am pretty happy with them.  They are smooth.  Not as smooth as my TE PT but for 69.99 you can't beat it.  They are small and fit my hand very comfortably.  I bought mine from the my sponsor listed below as soon as he got them in.
