  1. Wow, that frog rig looks weird. I have not seen a frog rigged that way before. With that hook being buried the way it is, do you get a lot of hang ups or slop stuck on it? My first thought when I saw that was it cannot be easy to swim through the slop. Just curious.
  2. Well, I do not want to get ahead of myself, but if everything goes according to plan, it will be in the East Coventry area. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the help everyone. I will have to go and do some searching.
  3. Yeah, I have fished there before. It can be fun. I have spent the past 8 years learning and finding the places up here, now, when I am starting to really discovery the secret spots, my family will be moving. It will take me another 5 years or so to scout. Anything you all got would be great.
  4. Hey all, I will be moving down into Montgomery County, PA. I need to find some new bass waters to fish. For those of you that live and fish down there, what are my choices of places to fish. Thanks for in advance.
  5. Look at the link at the bottom of my post. I have been using these for a year now, and will continue to use them forever. I use them on tubes, worms, beavers and any other soft plastic. I started using them on beavers because I was having a problem finding a good hook to use. Some hooks were too small, others were too big. From time to time, the beaver would not sit straight and it would slide down the hook. I found these and will not look to another style of hooks. http://www.usangler.com/product.cfm?model=Sled%20Head%20With%20Screw-Lock%20Shank%20&manufacturer=Owner&type=Hooks
  6. I had mine strung up with 30# braid. It worked great. No problems.
  7. I was once a member of Ranger Lake. I will say that I have seen more big fish in that lake than anywhere else. However, I have never caught anything quality there. It is a tough lake to fish at.
  8. Ranger Lake is a private club that you can get a membership to. It costs $50 or so. All of the above choices, and also, the Delaware River. Bass fishing in our area is not that great. Not many solid lakes. Beltzville is tough to fish from the bank, or at least that is what I was told. I have never fished it.
  9. I was at Dick's Sporting Goods the other day and rattle trap with a chatterbait blade on the front of it. Man, talk about some crazy vibrations. I thought that the original chatterbait thumped the rod pretty good. I will be trying this bait out this season.
  10. I think if you are primarily a weekend angler I would stick to something good quality, but not something that you will have to refinance your house to own. If you wanted to try a Shimano, start out with a Citica. I would not jump right into the 50mg right away. However, if you have the money to spend I would go witht he 50mg. I have owned a couple of them and LOVE them. They are so light and can sling a mile.
  11. Great point with the hooks. (No pun intended) For some reason people seem to jump back and forth regarding hooks. I have friends that say they will only use Gammies, and another who will use only Owners. Then the following week they are bragging about a different hook. I used to use only Gammies, then switched over to Eagle Claws about 4 years ago. However, I will not pass up a good deal on ANY brand. I think this is a very interesting topic because it explores all of our hidden obsessions and quirks. We all have them.
  12. Thanks for the info. I will be getting in touch with him to find out what he knows.
  13. I have just bought some new ones myself. I will be boiling the older ones to find out if they have an impact.
  14. You might want to consider boiling your Bigfoot in some water on the stove. I have heard that this softens up the plastic. I read on a forum that someone likes to do that because he feels as though the softer frog allows him a better hook set. Now, you may be able to take the legs out and boil them to soften them up, then put them back in. The softer legs should kick better.
  15. Anyone? Any info would be great.
  16. Yeah, I had the same problem with them speed clips, and that same night I took them out of my bag and threw them away. Even though I do not use them I would recommend a Duolock. I have heard that if they do break the snap will just collapse on itself, there by making it impossible for the snap to come off your line.
  17. Hey all, I will be visiting this area in a couple weeks and am curious to know how the fishing is at this lake. I have family that lives on this lake and would like to know how the bass fishing is. Anything you guys got would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  18. That sucks. For some reason though, I like the short grip. I had a custom made rod that has a 1.75 inch grip behind the reel seat. That is what felt comfortable to me. It started out as a 4 inch grip, and I worked it down to just under 2 inches. I hope you can find some sort of compromise with the company.
  19. I love the beast in a few different colors. My favorite is by far Breen color. I use them on a Owner Sled Head screw in weight/hook combo. This will keep them in better shape. Also, the Sled head helps the bait stand up, kind of like using it on a spot remover. They are a GREAT bait. They have caught a lot of fish for me.
  20. I have a Lamiglas custom made rod as well. I love it. Right now the model number escape me. I am very happy with it.
  21. Breen looks similar to a berkley motor oil colored worm, which is the reason why I started throwing them. I throw the smaller ones as well as the larger ones. I love them beasts.
  22. I have been throwing the Beast for the past year and must say I LOVE THEM!! My color of choice has been Breen. I use a Owner Sled Head screw in weight. For some reason the screw in weight seem to make the baits last longer. It also prevents the bait from sliding down the hook. I highly recommend the screw in weights.
  23. Interesting. Any idea why it is listed under "Cabela's Quantum Burst" rather than Quantum Burst? It is a different look and weight around 2 ounces less than all other Quantum reels.
