I've been using Matzuo 5/0 light wire offset shank worm hooks for 10" worms and Horny Toads. I'm down to my last few and I can't find anymore anywhere. I think Matzuo stopped making them? They are about a 1/2" longer than Gamakatsu 5/0 round bend offset shank worm hooks. They have a semi wide-gap. They are, by far, the best hooks I've used for Horny Toads and big worms.

Does anyone know where I can get some, or who makes a similar alternative? It needs to be long.

have you tried out the gamkatsu Extra wide gap off set shank hook in 5/0?

i use these for my 6" lizards in 3/0 or 2/0....

just got one of my 4/0's out and it measures 2 1/8 inches long... thats from the top of the eye let to the bottom part of the bend in the hook...

Yamamoto sells a Segoi offset worm hook.  It has a longer shank design that looks like it would work well for you.

Wow, that frog rig looks weird. I have not seen a frog rigged that way before. With that hook being buried the way it is, do you get a lot of hang ups or slop stuck on it? My first thought when I saw that was it cannot be easy to swim through the slop.

Try to find some of the original Sluggo Hooks.  I found them at Dick's.

The owner oversize in the 7/0 is right at 3 inches, it isnt too big but just right IMO.

The Zoom Horny Toad hook will rig that way. That is how I do it. The Gammy G-mag Oversize hook with work too.

Try it.  Hook-ups are exponentially easier with the frog rigged that way.   It's just as weedless conventional rigging.  The hook does get knocked out a little easier, but unless you're throwing it right onto a stump or tree trunk, it's fine.  Slop rarely knocks the hook loose.  This is my preferred way to fish a toad.  

The hook point is just "skin" hooked like when you Txpose a Fluke or worm. The frog just swings out of the way when a strike occurs and the plastic does not take up hook bend space resulting in surer hookups.
