Need some help...

Featured Replies

OK, I am in the search for the "perfect" line (aren't we all).  The combo I will be using the line with is a 6'6" MH baitcasting combo.  With this rod I throw cranks, spinners, and chatters mainly.  Two of the most important factors for me is stretch and castability.  I can cast the thing a mile, however I have lost a couple nice fish on extremely long casts due to "stretch".  I just switched from Stren Original (which was giving me problems) to Yo-zuri Hybrid.  I have not had the hybrid on the water yet but have made a few casts off the bank.  I really have no opinion just yet.

Any suggestions?  Does anyone use braid on their baitcasters (i use spiderwire on my spinning equipment and am thrilled with it). What about flouro?  Does it stretch?

Lets hear it...    (or if this has been asked before, lead me in the direction).  I searched but couldn't find anything.

Huh?   ::)

Spinning tackle:  Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test)

Baitcasting gear:  Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 (19.5 lb test)

Just kidding you.

how's the stretch? I have the 15lb Camo Green on now... I guess I'll try it for awhile.  although I don't like the thickness of the 15lb.  it's almost as thick as some 17lbs....

also, is there a noticable difference in the Ultra Soft?

I'm experimenting with original Hybrid #15 on a couple of baitcasters.

"Stretch" is not a noticable feature of either line. The difference is memory.

In use, the Ultra Soft has virtually no memory. That means that there

is some initial coiling from being stored on the reel, but after a few casts

the line behaves like braid!
