Where or how do you guys store your rods at home? Any suggestions on a good rod rack?

I am happy with it, the only thing is that if you aren't careful when taking a rod out, you can knock all the rods off of it.  I like having the drawers for misc stuff.  I only have 6 combos I use all the time so it works well for me.

Simple hooks you can be at any hardware store.  Mine are up in the garage out of sight and mind of potential thieves.  It also prevents them from being an eyesoar to the Mrs.

 I nailed a couple of plywood strips to the bottom of the joists in the garage ceiling rafters. I spaced them out to allow the handles to sit on one end but close enough together to offer plenty of support on the other end.

I usually clean 'em, grease' em and put 'em back in the rod locker in the boat.  I figure that is where I'll be needing them next.  Is that bad for them?

At my local Gander Mountain I saw some inexpensive rod holders made by Berkley. There was one for vertical mounting and one for horizontal mounting. I believe each set would hold four combos. They looked nice enough and were in the $10-$15 price range. I plan on picking a couple up soon.

I use peg board and put the outside of the guide on the peg hook, holding the rods vertically. Put the hook b/w the line and the blank to keep it from slipping.

I read somewhere once not to hang them horizontally, b/c it could damage the blank.

I have some 24 rods, and they fit nicely on one wall side by side.

I made this one a few years ago but have already outgrown it.  I like the one from Cabelas that Branuss posted.   Branuss, hows the overall quality of the rack and do the drawers just sit loose in there?

What is wrong with horizontal storage? I use 3 sets of hooks to ensure that the rod is level and balanced and so that gravity has no greater influence on any particular section.  To date, all of my rods are as straight as the day I bought them. They are usually stored without the reels on them but the reels were on since I just got back from fishing.

The above metioned statement refers to the rods maybe warping after leaning them in the corner for a period of time and possibly laying them horizontally for a period of time.

I use a vertical rack and take my reels off the rods.

Some knowledgable people recomend hanging your rods from a plastic covered hook from the ceiling and eliminating all stress from the rods. A lot of you will not agree with these statements but that is your business and we are all entitled to do things our own way and give opinions when asked.

I have the berkley vertical rack. It's black and holds six. I've quickly outgrown it. I'm satisfied with it and will probably mount a second next to the current.

I'm curious as to why not store them with the reels on? Could someone explain that?

I made a storage rack by screwing a 6' length of pipe insulation horizonally to the wall about 4.5 ' from the floor. I then made a vertical slice with a razor blade about every 5". I just slide each rod into the slice and rest the but end on the floor. this is in my basement that has a cement floor so I placed some wood on the floor to set the but end of the rods on.

I made this one from parts at the Home Depot. I need to make another one. It has casters on the bottom so I can roll it around.
