Fluoro line for spinning setups

Featured Replies

I read a older post on this, but still have questions on this type of line.  I just bought a spool of pline fluorocarbon line, as I started to spool it seemed incredibly sensitive to twisting.  Has anyone else had these problems, and how can you reduce the twisting?

I bought this line for my soft plastic presentations.  If I should not use fluorocarbon on my spinning setup, what should I replace the line with for a soft plastic setup?

what brand and what lb test are you using?  Also let it sit on the reel for a few days before you use it.  When you first put it on the line has the memory from the spool it came on which is much bigger than the reel so it flies off all over the place.

Letting it sit will give the line time to adjust to the reel.  You will still have memory but it will be much more controlable.

I would recommend 8# test on a spinning reel.  I put 8 and 10 trilene pro grade on this year but I haven't used 10# on a spinning reel yet.

Was it their Flurocarbon or Fluroclear? I can handle their Flurocarbon but the Fluroclear is crap in my opinion.

Also what lb test are you using? Maybe dropping down 2lbs may make a welcome difference.

Finally I don't know how well it works because I haven't used it yet but I picked up a bottle of Reel Magic to try out this season. Just something else to think about.

Various mono lines work very well and superlines also do well on spinning gear. I've used mostly braid the last couple of years but did fine with mono for many years.

for all you guys who are having trouble with flouro on spinning reels here we go again.i use a 4000 size reel.the bigger spool helps with line twist.you should put the spool in a tub of hot water and then spool it on.let dry overnight.let out all the line the next day and spray it with kvd line spray as you reel it in.let dry another day.EVEN IF THE LINE YOU USE IS NOW OK THIS PROCEDURE WILL MAKE IT A LOT BETTER!!!last but most important GET RID OF WHATEVER FLOURO LINE YOU ARE USING AND BUY THIS!!!

P - Line

When spooling my P-line on my spinning reel I constantly spray Reel Magic or KVD Conditioner on it to stop it from twisting.  Also I try to keep the flat side of the spool facing the spool not like you would spool a baitcaster.
