RW was right!

Featured Replies

Many times RW has touted Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft.  Well, I have tried it and it is now my go to 6lb for Shakey heads and drop shotting.  Thanks RW.  I tried a few brands of fluorocarbon for this, and all brands had their issues.  Our local Gander Mtn, had Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft for $3.97/275 yards so I bought what they had and am not looking back.

Last year I used Ultra-Soft for the first time; I spooled 8# on both a Sol baitcaster and a TD-Z 103ML.  These reels are mounted on a St. Croix EC68MXF and a Loomis BCR852, respectively.  I freakin' loved the stuff.  It handled my jig-worms and T-rigs very well.  It's a very user friendly line.

Just another for Yo-zuri Us!!! Put 6lb on spinning reel and 12lb on baitcaster...

I haven't had a ton of time to fish it yet but I can vouch for the lb strength vs the rating. I fished from the bank last Sat and got humg up. I have #6 and even with a stick wrapped around the line it was all I could do to get it to break.

I believe the #6 actualy has a close to 12lb breaking strength ( for hybrid a little less for Ultra soft).

I'd feel comfortable using the #4 compared to how my other lines break off.

does anyone know where you can buy it online? I've only been able to get it at one Gander Mountain that was pretty far from me and I'm running low on my 6# and would like to get some 12# or 14# for my citica.

This is my third season fishing the line and I still haven't found anything I like better. I plan to keep experimenting on a couple of rigs as new lines are introduced. We'll see, but for now I am very pleased with Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft.

In cold weather I hate it, haven't tried it in weather above 45 yet.

i got a spool of 12lb from ronnie and spooled up my baitcasters with it. i love the stuff, it's even better than the regular yo-zuri hybrid. i'm gonna have to make a trip to cabela's to get some 6lb for my spinning setups now.

Cold has no effect on the line. The problem, I suspect, was the initial coiling from being stored on your reel. Hybrid Ultra Soft has very little memory "in use", but will still coil when stored. KVD Line & Lure treatment will help, but the best solution is to troll the line. After a few casts, the memory will fade.

How does the line look in the water?  Maybe I'm over concerned about line visibility, but the reservoirs around here get POUNDED.  I've noticed the "clear" is not so clear and haven't seen any of the green.  So what say you?  I'd like to give this stuff a try this season.

It makes good backing.

yea have seen it on sale at my local gander mnt and plan on pickin up some tomorrow and see for my self

I dont know what to get the hybrid or hybrid ultra soft right?

The original hybrid seems to have a bit more flurocarbon in it than the ultra soft....

But either way make sure you use ultra-soft on your spinning tackle or you will suffer dearly  ;)

kb here    man dont you guys realize that rw is allways right   anyway most of the time  kb
