Since it has floro in its mix, does this line float?

Can I use this line for topwater fishing?

No it doesn't float, it sinks...as does flouro.

I've used it for moving topwater baits like Jitterbugs and Spooks. I still like to stick with mono if the bait is going to be paused, like a popper. Just my preference. HTH

yeah, I was fishing pretty heavy current the other day and I noticed that when I had slack in the line, the slack line floated on the top of the water pretty noticeably.

If it weighs more, wouldn't it sink? I'm comparing it to PowerPro so maybe we aren't on the same page. Just seems your initial response was a little hostile.

I just performed a highly scientific experement and placed about a foot of 10 lb. orginal hybrid in a bowl of water, it floats.  ;D

Well for about 5 minutes. Now about half the line is starting to sink slightly (2 coils out of about 5).

So if ultrasoft floats then I can use poppers w/ this line?  Ultrasoft will not affect the performance of the popper or say a zara spook?

 Haven't used it for poppers, works great with spooks ...

RW, Matt is right.  The line will stay on the surface due to surface tension, but it does sink once it breaks the surface.  

I've always heard heavier line gives better action to topwater plugs but I don't know.  Just go fishing. Don't make the bass smarter than you. The most important thing to me is, is that my line is properly matched for my rod.  I catch bass using 20 pound mono with a zara spook and unsing 8 pound mono with a rapala.    make the rod, line, reel and plug match one another and you'll be ok.

A simple, I disagree would have been cool. That backfired. :

Anyway, I never thought about line bouyancy in the terms of surface tension, that's something new to consider.

I think YZ Hybrid US would work for almost all occasions, though. I love it for plastics and it has worked very well for me on topwater baits as well.

Thanks DD, that's the answer I was looking for.  I have 6 & 8 lb 600 yd spools of clear Ultrasoft ordered from Cabelas.  I've used Yozuri Hybrid & I've had no problems w/ topwater w/ that line, I just didn't know if Ultrasoft was similar or different for topwater.
