Citica 200 DPV

Featured Replies

Today Got my new Shimano Citica.  Do I need to oil this right out of the box?  I'm going to use this reel for crankbaits.  What would be the best "crankbait" line for this reel?  Thanks!

I applied just a couple dabs of oil on all my Citicas that came in. You don't need a lot. So far I have used Cabelas 10 lb line and I really like it. The line is going to be mostly a preference thing IMO.

The DPV has the slower 5:1 ratio.  My personal preference for this reel is to use it for deeper diving crankbaits, so I use 10 lb fluorocarbon since the fluoro sinks and helps me crank a little deeper.  You could sacrifice some line strength and go to 8 lb fluoro to go even deeper.

On every new reel I get I clean the bearings in lighter fluid and re-lube with quality oil and make sure all the excess grease is removed
