For 150$ there are a few options. I think your best option would be to go on Ebay right now, they have the Abu Garcia Revo STX for around 157.99$ brand new in the box that you can buy immediately, or you might find a cheaper one bidding. Not only is that a good price but that is an outstanding reel. If your willing to spend 170$ you can get a Shimano Curado from Bass Pro Shops or Cabelas. I would go with the STX personally.

As for a rod it depends on what your going to be using it for and how much your willing to spend on it. If your looking for a nice "all around rod" i would go with a 6'6'' or 7' MH/F. If you post back with what kind of rod your looking for im sure alot more suggestions can be made.

for any of you who have some time to evaluate these for me these are some i was looking at and i would like to narrow it down to about 3-5.. thanks.  here they are: Shimano Curado D, Quantum Code, Pflueger Summit, Pflueger Asaro, Abu Garcia Revo SC,  Cabela's Tournament ZX HS, Cabela's Prodigy, Abu Garcia Revo SX,  Daiwa Advantage Super-Tuned HSTA, Quantum Accurist 500 PTs. if anyone could do me a huge favor and help me pick the best reel for the best cash i would greatly appreciate it...

thanks

There is no question that the best bang for your buck is the quantum Tour Edition half price from cabelas. If you are looking at quantum then go with the tour edition or energy pt over the ones you listed. They are nearly half off at cabelas and are great performers.

Out of the ones you listed, I would go revo sx or curado. If you consider my recommendations then I would put the tour edition with the revo as tops. You just can't beat a $240 reel for $129!!!

Btw-I have 2 codes and like them fine but you can't justify buying them when these others are on sale.

hawgchaser is correct...if the deal on the Quantum TE's are still on, you cant beat it. It is a very good reel for about half price.

Sorry, can't help with the review of the other reels. You listed the Curado D but not the Citica. I bought the Citica 200D, liked it so much got another when they went on sale (with a rebate :)). If you are considering the Curado you should seriously consider the Citica. From what I've read from other members and heard the new Citica is a better reel than the new Curado (and less $$$)...

There are plenty of citica fans out there. But a tour edition for the SMS price as a citica is a no brainer. I bought a citica and just didn't like it at all. I gave it to my buddy. They work fine but are big and many are noisy

I'd have to second the motion on the Pflueger Summit.  I just got one (LP not the WLP) in 7.1:1 and it's one of the smoothest reels I've used.  Just as light as my Curado 100DSV and with more features.  And I paid about $100 on eBay for it vice over $150 for my Curado.  I like the Curados too, but the Pflueger's got more bang for the buck.

Whether you are a fan of Quantum or not, the Tour Edition is the best deal going at the moment.  There might be more clearance deals pop up closer to icast.  Look for the remaining Curados to be knocked in the dirt.

i read some reviews saying abu garcia's arent good for casting into the wind because the breaking systems arent that great also im not to fond of the crack the side open to adjust anything. im looking for a few of both 6:3:1 or 7:1 thanks for all the help

Quantum's braking system is the best of both worlds. Externally adjustable centrifugal braking. I am actually  not a quantum fan boy. I only have 2 of their reels out of about 15. BUT it seems to be exactly what you want.

This may or may not be much help. However, I too, tend to over-analyze new purchases of gear of any kind. All reels mentioned here a likely to be GREAT reels. Otherwise, the manufacturer's wouldn't sell tens of thousands of them.

That said, I believe it is important for you to look at the reels, feel them, and push all the buttons at a local shop. Pick the one you like best and feels right. Again, I don't believe you can go wrong with any of them.

By the way, I have a Quantum Energy PT (BURNER) and a Revo STX 6:4. They are both great.

I believe the rod selection will be more important than the reel. I have a M/H 7' Johnny Morris sig from Bass Pro and a St Croix Avid 7' m fast. I honestly haven't used them enough this year to say if I would buy the same again. I can say I like them very much.

I hope that helps some.

Cabelas Prodigy $99.99 Hell of a reel for the moneyJMHO :)

I agree!  I have bought 2 of the 07 models on clearance and will buy 2 of the 08 models when/if they clear those late this year.  Good buy at $99.99 but a great buy on clearance!  The spinning reel versions are nice too!!

Depending on the size of BC your looking for, Sportsmans warehouse still has the $160 deal on Fuego's and Sol's. Search the web for their website. Any store will ship most everything free, as long as the order is over $100.
