Guess we all need to start posts with IMHO. Maybe that way it wouldn't be called "no brainer"...

Skillet, don't take it personally. There are plenty of people on here that would say I am crazy for recommending a quantum. Threads like these are for opinions and thats it. Comparing a Tour Edition to a Citica is not apples to apples. The Tour Edition is quantums top of the line reel....the best they have to offer. A more equal comparison would be a tour edition vs. a chronarch in which case I would have a chronarch 50mg! :)

As I said before, the citica has many fans! I just don't care for them myself. (however, I do have six of the older 3 bearing Citicas)

Daiwa Advantage Super-Tuned Hands Down!!

Quantum is in my experience with the Tour Editions and the Cabo/Boca Series is JUNK.

They do have an excellent warranty department and usually replace their junk quickly with more junk. Its like a junk recycling plant.  ;D

I'm staying out of this, but if you will review the last 20, 50 or 100

pages in this section, there are lots of suggestions (opinions) on rods

and reels at different pricing points.

p.s.

A couple of off-color responses and references to those posts were

delted. Please, be courteous and stay on topic.

::)

I know your question is about what reel to get, and the rod may be secondary. I'm just throwing this out there, but if you are on a budget, I'd recommend on placing your priority on the rod first, then a reel second. I think most people are happier having a high quality rod.

I think rods might be more important for "catching" bass, but reels

make the "fishing" more enjoyable. On average, my reels account for

2/3 - 3/4 of the total cost of a rig.

I love my JUNKY Quantums!  I have 5 of them,  and have never had one problem with them.  Maybe you are doing something wrong with yours?  Anyway---it's a great reel for those like me on a budget.   JUNKY QUANTUMS RULE!!!!!!!!

Upon further review...the Diawa is in a nice price range.  Maybe I will have to check them out next time I am in the market. If my Quantum ever breaks.... :)

Cool!!!!

I will agree with that.
